02 Her story
Meet Violetta
What stands out
- 178 cm, tall and slender
- Long sleek straight black hair, brown eyes
- Swimming, stand-up comedy, bookshops
- Mysterious, elegant, confident
- Based in Oud-Zuid
Violetta looks like a mystery novel and laughs like a comedy club. She is elegant and quietly enigmatic right up until something funny happens, and then the most composed woman in the bar is suddenly the one wiping tears from her eyes. It is a transformation worth seeing.
At 178 cm she is the tallest woman on our roster, tall and slender, with long black hair worn sleek and straight and brown eyes. The Dutch are among the tallest people on earth, and even here she stands out. She is 30, confident in her own skin, and she dresses in a sleek desert-gold glamour that makes an entrance without trying. She lives in Oud-Zuid, where the avenues are wide enough to match her stride.
Stand-up comedy is her secret passion. She catches English-language shows across the city whenever she can, and her own deadpan wit sneaks up on you. Her favourite jokes are the ones that take a while to land. Stacy is the other comedy lover on the roster. By day, Violetta swims. Long lengths keep her slender frame strong and her mind clear, and she happily swims outdoors well into autumn when the weather allows. Her stroke in the water is as long as her stride on land.
Bookshops are where she disappears. She can lose an entire afternoon among the tall shelves of the bookshops around the Spui, and she always leaves carrying more than she meant to buy. The Spui is the literary corner of the city, and she treats it like a second living room. Her mysterious side shows in her reading: detective fiction, old travel diaries, poetry she will not always admit to. Patricia shares the bookshop habit.
Violetta speaks English and is a stunning choice for a formal dinner, a gala or an evening of good laughs. Amsterdam likes its landmarks tall and its humour dry, and she delivers both. Mystery and laughter, in one elegant package. Message us to arrange it.
03 An evening plan
Out with Violetta
Few people guess the punchline with Violetta. She looks like the most serious person in any room, 178 cm of sleek black hair and desert-gold glamour, yet her favourite evening involves laughing until her eyes water. It starts quietly enough, with an hour in a bookshop near her home in Oud-Zuid, where she reads the first page of several novels and buys the one with the best opening line.
Then a comedy night at the Royal Theatre Carré on the Amstel, the grand old circus building where big names play to a packed hall. She laughs generously and remembers every good line. Dinner afterwards is somewhere elegant by the water, candlelit and hushed, and she turns mysterious again, answering personal questions with a raised eyebrow. On the stroll back to the tram she repeats the best joke of the show, word perfect and completely deadpan.
04 In her words
Violetta answers
01Why stand-up comedy?
Because a good comedian is a writer with nowhere to hide. I admire that more than most things on a stage.
02Morning swim or evening swim?
Morning, before the city wakes up. Then I can be sociable for the rest of the day. It is also the only hour my phone cannot reach me.
03How do you choose a book?
By the first line only. If it does not grab me, the book goes back on the shelf, whatever the cover promises.
